“MAKE ART, NOT WAR”
A PROPAGANDA ART GROUP EXHIBITION
5th DECEMBER 2017 – 14th JANUARY 2018
I was able to attend The Design Kids: #TDK Tuesday event in this fall and they talked about the Decembers event along with MNSTR Gallery here in Vancouver. The theme was Propaganda Style art titled MAKE ART, NOT WAR. I was inspired to submit a design as I am motivated to continue with my artwork in various ways, lets add illustrator to the list of work I love doing! I am very excited to have my piece called “RECLAIM” be apart of this great group of designers and illustrators. This is a great way to wrap up an eventful and creative year.
Info on my piece
Reclaim, inspired by strong indigenous women currently creating dialogue through creative expression such as music and art – which are both a part of healing by addressing colonialism, racism and the inter-generational effects of residential school. Through the practice of expression these women are reclaiming their status as matriarchs and building strength within the indigenous community. Indigenous women be crafty too! Her piece “Reclaim” features a west coast indigenous women in traditional regalia, cedar headband, abalone jewelry and a button blanket.
